Line Overs Don't Exist

This debate is becoming more and more common, so my question to you all is: Is it about time we started changing things? IF we started routing our brakes inside the rings slider down, and made sure we had line release toggles, what would the downside be? baseguiding.com basegear.net exitpoint.podbean.com/e/48-avery-badenhop-and-team-ill-vision/ www.swissbaseassociation.org/box

    • @johnnysjumps
      @johnnysjumps 3 месяца назад

      @@thepicklefish - In terms of buy in (time, money, practice) you'll be ready to use a One Piece track suit BASE jumping a lot sooner than a wing suit. I think it's a good idea to get some experience doing big wall jumps in a two piece prior to going to a Onesie though. They have a lot of power, and you can get yourself into trouble pretty easily.

    would you suggest still using the LRT method of setting the brakes to mitigate the increased opening forces on the toggle stiffeners?

    • @johnnysjumps
      @johnnysjumps 3 месяца назад

      I’d treat it the same as slider up in relation to how you set the brakes - pull the brake setting down through the guide ring, pass the toggle through the brake setting then into the stow. I don’t see any downside to the LRT method but it seems unnecessary. I’ve never actually thought about the opening force on the toggle stiffeners. What do you think?

    Thank you for taking the time to make this video John! Great stuff. I like to hold the section of bridle between the hand and the pins with my pilot chute hand's index finger, very very lightly, just to control this "arc" of bridle until the jumper is properly setup. Also a common mistake I see is people so focused on the bridle hand that they disregard the trajectory of the PC when it gets snatched out of their hand, sometimes causing the PC to hit the edge of the object. Can't wait for the other videos :)

    I use a tail gate slider up because why not. It’s there from my slider off jumps, so I may as well use it and keep the habit. All of my SU openings (not many) have been good thus far. I also use a new fresh rubber band every jump.

    Is there a difference in the tailgate binding, twice or three times, from a height of e.g. 70 meters?

    • @johnnysjumps
      @johnnysjumps 4 месяца назад

      Every wrap you do will hold it tighter so it'll need more force to release. I wouldn't start playing with adding wraps on something as low at 70m. If it is something you want to experiment with, do it off something big, with lots of margin, and get top video, or rear facing from a 360 cam, and look at your deployments.

      Yeah - it’s impossible to give any recommendation without seeing a deployment. It might be working perfectly, or it could be blowing early every time.
